Was mir sehr gefallen hat:

It's ever a large of a challenge when I try to swoop into older comics, just naturally the recently concluded Loki Disney+ serial had me excavation upward my Kang comics. It'due south e'er a big of a challenge when I try to dive into older comics, only naturally the recently ended Loki Disney+ series had me excavation upward my Kang comics. I had always had a general appreciation for the time-traveler, mainly in the context of Doc Doom (e.g. Inifinity War), but had never really gone through his tussles with the Avengers.

This compilation makes sure to bring together a number of different Kang stories but this as well makes it a picayune slower-going to get into. The first few adventures were all related to his size-changing robot that seems most unstoppable - and this was washed merely to better explain the robot's appearance in figure adventures. The meat of this collection is the story arc where Kang is trying to kill off his divergent selves, which feels very related to what happened in the Loki show, in a mode of speaking. In this case, we literally accept Kang killing of his variants in guild to dominion over all.

The Avengers get dragged into this mess as Kang wants to use them equally pawns against his other selves. Information technology's a lot of fighting weird monsters and creatively deep references to the history of characters being banished to Limbo, which I likewise appreciated.

The ending was as convoluted equally expected, but this totally worked for the time-traveling context of the story. But it totally worked for this book and I do appreciate having gone through this journey into Kang (and Avengers) history.

Obviously over the course of twenty years, which is the span of these issues, the artwork and quality of writing varies, only as a whole it was an overall great endeavour about a grapheme so filled with hate he destroys even himself. If you lot similar this villain its worth the coin. Otherwise don't carp.

A good mix of mostly-continued Kang storylines from Avengers over the years. Chronologically, this includes Thor #140 (1966), Avengers #69-71 (1969), Hulk #135 (1971), and Avengers #267-69 (1986). A lot of these stories are revisited/retconned in one of my favourite Avengers books (Avengers Forever, 1998), and is a pretty practiced starting point for readers who are interested in learning more than almost Kang the Conqueror.

Recommend for anybody who watches Loki. In that location's a lot of real relevant stuff in here. Maybe even some direct source cloth.

Granted, I am not a fan of this comic or the dopey villain featured in this collection, but I was not impressed. The stories all involve Curiosity heroes contesting Kang, the time-traveling despot so consumed with hate that he tends to bring nigh his ain downfall, and that tendency makes the resolution of some of these stories repetitive. Other elements are repetitive too, such equally Kang'south constant declarations of hate, superiority, and the endless fights which replace bodily stories.

Some of these tales were published months and years autonomously. These repetitions might have gone unnoticed when read is magazines so separated in fourth dimension, but they really do no work as a book. I read this tome while trolling for Shakespeare quotations in the work of Roy Thomas, who write one-half of these stories. There are three, all of them pocket-size.

With several creative person co-creators, near notably Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, he co-created Spider-Human, the Fantastic 4, the X-Men, Iron Human being, the Hulk, Daredevil, the Silver Surfer, Dr. Strange, and many other characters, introducing complex, naturalistic characters and a thoroughly shared universe into superhero comic books. He subsequently led the expansion of Curiosity Comics from a small segmentation of a publishing house to a large multimedia corporation.
